Paris

Thank you for your kind messages and concern. Here are some beautiful photos our friend François Tancré took last night of the vigils held at the sites of the attacks. You can see the full set here. People go out, businesses are open, the trains and Métro are still running. We are safe but we feel for the victims, the policemen, emergency personnel and families who are suffering. My friend Sandra checked in with her family in Beirut and they are safe. Paris just had a terrible, tragic glimpse of what everyday life is like for them and many others. The Paris mantra is "Fluctuat nec mergitur," so our friends are posting things like, "Je refuse de laisser la peur vaincre. Que la vie reprenne." Hope you are all safe and sound today.

  8. Thank you everyone. I can't believe you even thought of me and I'm really touched. I felt weird posting this and don't mean to make this about me, so I didn't want to say anything but I was overwhelmed by how many people kindly emailed asking if everything was ok. I'm so sorry for what others in the city are going through, I can't even imagine their pain.
